Columbia Development is steeped in the tradition of giving back to the community. Over the years, the firm has donated millions of dollars to local and national charities including the American Cancer Society’s Hope Club for children and young adults, and the Stranded Soldier Program, through which the firm provides free company-owned hotel rooms to U.S. military personnel delayed overnight at the Albany International Airport. Among many, the company also supports charitable causes at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, St. Peter’s Hospital, and Albany Medical Center.
In 2012, Columbia Development led fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association’s 28th Annual “Capital Region Heart Ball” in honor of the firms close friend and mentor Donald Led Duke. In just one single event, Columbia was able to raise over $450,000 to help this important local organization.
The spirit of community giving and corporate social responsibility continues each day at Columbia Development, and is extended to such organizations as the Albany Police Athletic League and the Albany Tulip Festival. The company also sponsors many major City of Albany events, including the annual 4th of July fireworks display at the Empire State Plaza.
