JOSEPH R. NICOLLA, PRESIDENT
Joe Nicolla is the President and owner of Columbia Development Companies. Under his leadership, Columbia Development has established a strong reputation within both public and private sectors by providing a full range of development services and comprehensive ‘single source’ responsibility.
With over 20 years experience in engineering, construction and development, Mr. Nicolla has developed more than 6 million Sq. Ft. and $500 million dollars worth of commercial retail and residential space.
Mr. Nicolla is considered one of the industry’s most knowledgeable and well-respected developers. He has shaped one of the most unique development firms in the nation by vertically integrating the company with construction powerhouse BBL. Nicolla credits his greatest accomplishment with the opportunity to have worked with the late Donald Led Duke who unfortunately passed in 2010.
Mr. Nicolla earned Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
RICHARD A. ROSEN, VICE PRESIDENT
Rich Rosen is the Vice President of Columbia Development Companies. He is also a partner. In his position, Mr. Rosen oversees a full-range of project operations and responsibilities.
Bringing over 25 years of construction and real estate development experience to Columbia Development, Mr. Rosen has helped to develop projects in over a dozen states throughout the country. He has developed over three (3) million Sq. Ft. ranging in cost from one (1) million to eighty (80) million dollars.
Prior to joining Columbia Development, Mr. Rosen worked with long-time affiliate, BBL. With a strong focus on project development and execution, Mr. Rosen works with each of his clients throughout the entire planning and development process to ensure complete satisfaction.
Mr. Rosen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the State University of New York at Albany.
MARC GOLDSTEIN, DIRECTOR OF REAL ESTATE
Marc Goldstein brings 26 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience to the company. After spending 15 years in the banking industry, Mr. Goldstein joined the brokerage firm Robert Cohn Associates (now CBRE) in 1985. In 1997, he began to handle all aspects of real estate relating to the various development projects undertaken by Columbia Development Companies.
Mr. Goldstein is responsible for acquisitions of raw land and redevelopment properties, leasing of retail buildings, shopping centers, pad sites, industrial and office buildings and the sale of developed properties and investment opportunities. Over the past twenty-five years, Mr. Goldstein has been involved in purchasing, selling and leasing of over $400 million dollars worth of real estate.
Mr. Goldstein has been active in business and community affairs, serving as a director on several boards for real estate, community and charitable organizations.
TIMOTHY PICCIOCCA, CONTROLLER
As controller for the Columbia Development Companies, Mr. Picciocca oversees the accounting staff. His responsibilities also include creating project proforma models, job cost administration, cost to budget tracking, assisting in commercial loan underwriting and loan administration.
Mr. Picciocca is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany with a Masters in Business Administration, and a graduate of Siena College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
THOMAS KEANEY, PROJECT EXECUTIVE
Tom Keaney brings sixteen years of experience in all phases of construction and real estate development to Columbia Development Companies.
Beginning his career in 1995 at long-time affiliate, BBL, Mr. Keaney transitioned his career from construction to development in 1997 by joining Columbia Development.
Mr. Keaney is responsible for the coordination of all personnel in the development team including engineers, architects, attorneys, project managers and superintendents.
Mr. Keaney is a member of the Associated General Contractors of America, the Construction Management Association of America, the General Building Contractors of New York State and the Green Builders Council. He received the Director’s Award from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
JAMES D. ANDREWS, DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES PLANNING
Jim Andrews has extensive experience in project planning and development. A 22-year company veteran, Mr. Andrews’ duties range from conceptual design of sites and buildings to the preparation of construction documents.
His vast knowledge of the construction, space planning and development fields allows Mr. Andrews to start a project by deciphering a clients’ needs and translating them into an ideal working environment.
Mr. Andrews graduated from the State University of New York, College of Technology at Delhi, with a degree in Architectural Technology.
MICHAEL ARCANGEL, PROJECT EXECUTIVE
Michael Arcangel, brings over 40 years of experience to Columbia Development Companies.
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Mr. Arcangel began his relationship with BBL in the early 1980′s when he partnered with the company in the construction of several shopping centers.
After spending 30 years with Bella Vista Group, a development company in Buffalo, Mr. Arcangel joined Columbia in 1998. He oversees all projects by maintaining strong relationships with clients, municipalities, contractors and consultants involved.
Mr. Arcangel holds a Civil Engineering Degree and a Business Degree from Tri State College in Indiana.
BRANDON L. STABLER, PROJECT MANAGER
As a previous Counter Intelligence & Interrogation Section Leader in the United States Army, Brandon Stabler brings an impressive resume to Columbia Development Companies.
Mr. Stabler joined Columbia Development in 2007 after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
CHRISTOPHER F. NICOLLA, PROJECT MANAGER
As project manager for Columbia Development Companies, Christopher Nicolla handles the company’s day-to-day operations to ensure client expectations are met.
Mr. Nicolla spent his youth admiring his father, Joseph’s dedication to the business and became a part of the Columbia team to help carry out his father’s objectives.
Mr. Nicolla resides in Albany and donates much of his time to Habitat for Humanity. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Business from the University of Rhode Island.
